Hotel Accomodation

There are many hotels based locally to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, some of which have been secured for use by delegates and can be booked through our accommodation partner Reservation Highway. Rooms can be booked online using a secure password ‘eco10’ or by downloading the attached booking form and returning via post or fax, or you can email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Demand for hotels in August in very high and prices can vary daily. The prices listed are available for all delegates up to 15th July 2010; requests for accommodation after this date cannot be guaranteed at the same rate and will be subject to availability.

Additional hotel options can be found at many of the hotel booking websites, such as www.laterooms.com or www.lastminute.com.

Early booking of hotels is recommended by all delegates due to high demand.

University Accomodation

Delegates can also book university accommodation in the various halls of residences belonging to the University of London. This can be done directly with the online booking service and delegates are responsible for the reservation and payment of their rooms.

There are 6 residences belonging to the University of London, in various locations and offering different facilities available for booking (single standard, single en-suite, catered, non-catered, etc).

The two residences nearest to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are located in Astor College or Schafer House, both residences offer single standard bedrooms with shared facilities (kitchens and bathrooms) but Schafer House is arranged in self-contained flats of up to 5 single bedrooms. The closest en-suite residence (i.e. with a private bathroom) will be James Lighthill House which is about 20mn walk from LSHTM.

Bookings should be made directly on www.ucl.ac.uk/residences and must be booked at least 48 hours before your arrival date. It is strongly advisable to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment and rooms/room types are available on a first come first served basis. Availability cannot be guaranteed by the University of London.
